mirocomachiko : Creatures are my mirror

Ōkami ga tobu hi [The day the wolf flies ] (Eastpress , 2012), the picture book with which mirocomachiko (b. 1981) debuted, won the grand prize in The 18th Japan Picture Book Award organized by Japan School Library Association. Indeed, mirocomachiko appeared in the publishing world like a comet. Thereafter, she won one after another picture book prize and literature award in Japan and abroad and is a picture book author whose new works are constantly awaited. Meanwhile, she is also active as a painter and is known for the free and easy style in which she paints animals and plants. This exhibition introduces the charm of mirocomachiko exhaustively through more than 200 mostly recent and new works ranging from paintings and original pictures for her picture books to book illustrations, three-dimensional works, and art direction.
