Special Section:New Collection Commemoration 2022
2023 Sat April 8 〜 2023 Sun July 2
Closed: Mon May 8, Wed May 24、 Mon June 5
The Yokosuka Museum of Art holds four exhibitions each year of works from our collection. The works being shown in this exhibition include modern and contemporary Japanese art, together with works by artists with special connections to Yokosuka.
Nine works by six artists newly acquired in 2022 by our museum
are on display.
In fiscal 2019, Yokosuka Museum of Art created the “Art
Acquisition Fund” to enhance our collection. In fiscal year 2021,
we utilized this fund for the first time to purchase Garden in
Autumn (1900) by YAZAKI Chiyoji (1872–1947), a painter from
Yokosuka.
Our museum was able to purchase two works in fiscal 2022:
Mother III (2017) by NAGASAWA Akira and field of water #19051
(2019) by AMANO Junji. In addition, we received gifts of seven
works, mostly by contemporary artists. The new acquisitions
have added further depth to our collection, especially to its
contemporary portion.
Lastly, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the
donators for their generous support, and to the artists and all the
people concerned for their invaluable gifts.
We would deeply appreciate your continued support in
enhancing our collection.
