Arts to link areas of mountain and seaside - Hakone/Yokosuka collaboration project 2nd
Interaction of 20th Century arts in two collections
The Hakone Open-Air Museum and Yokosuka Museum of Art

2024 Sat November 16 〜 2024 Sun December 22

Closed: Mon. December 2

As the second installment of the "Arts to link areas of mountain and seaside" collaboration with museums in the Hakone region, we will hold an exhibition introducing 20th-century art using masterpieces from both the Hakone Open-Air Museum and the Yokosuka Museum of Art.
While the Yokosuka Museum of Art features a collection primarily consisting of modern and contemporary Japanese art, the Hakone Open-Air Museum has formed a diverse collection of modern and contemporary sculptures from both Western and Japanese artists over its 55 years of operation. This exhibition will showcase around 40 masterpieces from The Hakone Open-Air Museum, including works by Picasso and Moore, in conjunction with the Yokosuka Museum of Art’s holdings, creating a harmonious and immersive experience. Additionally, the exhibition will present works from the 1880s to the 2000s, organized thematically and roughly chronologically, to provide an overview of the evolution of 20th-century art.
