120th Anniversary
Setsuko Migishi a Retrospective

Setsuko Migishi, one of Japan’s leading Western-style painters, was born in 1905 in where is now Ichinomiya City, Aichi Prefecture, and marks the 120th anniversary of her birth in 2025. This exhibition, drawn primarily from the collection of Ichinomiya City Memorial Art Museum of Setsuko Migishi, presents approximately 70 works—mainly representative oil paintings from her early career through her later years, including works shown here for the first time—introduced in chronological order. Through them, visitors are invited to trace the lifelong artistic development of Setsuko Migishi, the “painter of passion.”
